Risktaking and Collaboration: A Podcasting Adventure

Thank goodness teachers share.  Without the ideas of my colleagues, I would be lost as an educator. Whether it's rubric development or lesson planning, I rarely create something without the input from my teaching counterparts, especially my former partner and the other half of my teaching brain, Robin.

In the spirit of sharing, I have struggled a bit without Robin.  She and I had a system down.  We "got" each other and always found ways to push to the next level.  So, stepping out into the world of podcasting -- without my teaching partner -- has scared me to death.

This opportunity, although challenging, is already making headway in my little world of Explore.  Many students have signed on to participate in this new venture, and I have found some exceptional teachers, community members, and friends willing to help.  Most of all, I have (hopefully) shown my students to push out of their comfort zones and take risks.

Sure, this new world is scary.  I honestly do not like change. Not one to embrace changes in routine, structure, and surroundings, I have jumped head-first into a new world of personalized learning.  Podcasting has provided a way to rejuvenate my love of writing, revisit long-forgotten or overlooked conversations, and facilitate a new style of learning.

Thankfully, I have others willing to facilitate and/or participate in this venture with me. What in the world would we do without sharing?  I'm thankful to work with students, community members, and friends eager to step out on a ledge, learn something new, and share  with the world.

Please let me know if you have an idea for a podcast.

I'd love to hear from you!
